Beyond this Veil
Sunbeams dance on glass lake's shell and shine upon the seas,
Mother Nature weaves her spell, her hymn upon the breeze.
Wisps of crimson red and orange are painted on the air,
The beauty of the twilight sun inspires my eyes to stare.
Moonlit dreams upon the leaves, starlight in my eyes,
Evening's peace for me to keep, night sighs and fireflies.
Blades of green that glow serene with the souls of all who've died,
They hold the grace of ancient trees upon a mountainside.
My spirit is one with God, the land, the sky and ocean,
We are part of earth's spirit and all souls are her children.
Beyond this veil of earth and time are hidden wonders found,
And there is where God's love resides, for which all souls are bound.

Children Laughing
In your tiny face I've found,
A love so simple, so profound.
And in your laughter I can hear,
The future saying, "Have no fear".
For through all of your peaceful ways,
We all shall realize better days.
And with the love that keeps your heart,
The world will find a brand new start.
Yes, and in your tiny face of unquestioned trust and glee,
I see all children smiling, saying, "All of us are free."
Can you imagine how the world might be like if today,
All people looked upon a child and learned their peaceful ways?
For if we were to take their hands and share with them their mirth,
Their love would light the way and shed heaven's light on this earth.

Compromise
Compromise is all about
meeting life's demands,
hearing how another feels
and trying to understand.
It's about giving and caring
for the ones you call your friends
and if there are some differences,
it's about how to make amends.
Neither giving up too much,
or too little, is the task.
Adjusting your principles
is not too much to ask.
Being strong willed and stubborn
is friendship's demise
but if you can give a little
then you've learned to compromise.

Dancing Dreams
I dreamed
You were a dolphin
Upon the sparkling sea of blue
Smiling, dancing, beckoning to me
Joyfully........
I dreamed
I was a mermaid
Swimming, by your side
Turning, swirling, riding the ocean swells together
Gleefully......
I dreamed
We danced and played forever
Soaring up from the depths below to the sunkissed waves
Exquisitely......
Our souls touch in harmony
To the rhythm of the sea
Perfectly......

Dreamer- Take A Chance
Small ones fledgling steps,
Tentative at first, one behind the other
'Round and 'round
Dancing in cadence to each heartbeat.
Curious, but silent
Mindful, and yet unconscious of
The passage of time's sounds.
Go for it!
Take a chance
For your life's dance.
Stepping up and into the
Commitments of mind and heart
Children learn from others
That is where they start.
Shining stars, they are
Given to us to cherish
Near and far.
Deep within their hearts,
Their own fires burn
On and on they yearn
To express hidden desires.
Go for it!
Take a chance
For your life's dance.
Now grown
And off on their own,
Reaching for perfection
In their own reflection....
See the love that is there
For them to hold back or share.
Here it is, the window to the heart,
Inviting us to be a part
Each unique and most divine....
To share an honored space and time.
Go for it!
Take a chance
For your life's dance.

The Eagle
The eagle is a guardian of darkness, of night,
He is weary of all things, no soul escapes his sight.
When the morning sun ascends into hazy blue skies,
He rises to claim the wind, above where mountains rise.
In flying with the sunshine, the wind contrives a hymn,
The song is one of freedom and the courage to begin.
The mountains hold his shadow, one of dignity and grace,
The symbol of humility, this is man's endless chase.
The eagele is a guardian of daytime, of light,
'Neath the sun his wings reflect, his golden feathers bright.
When the evening sun fades with understanding sighs,
The eagle can be heard, singing out in spiteless cries.
Fire, ice and light dance deep within his eyes,
The eagle is a warrior whose spirit never dies.

The Eagle's Cry
With eyes that burn like twisting flames, insatiable and true,
His gaze penetrates all, and in observance, so construes.
The eagle‚s talons, ever strong, can pierce the blackest heart,
And in his endless fight for justice, the talons always have their part.
His plumage, filled with golden light, is incited by the sun,
To boldly shine for all to see, epitomizing freedom.
His shadow is the symbol for all who live and die as free,
And grows with his ascension unto the sky‚s infinite sea.
Soaring on and ever higher, he aspires to reach the stars,
To dispel all prejudices, show us who we really are.
But man has lost sight of the wisdom that is in the eagle‚s cry.
Amidst tall and stately canyons bathed in many-colored tears,
The flying eagle‚s glorious voice rings out so vast and clear.
His blood-stained wings encompass every mountain, rock, and tree,
To garner all the wilderness and those who still believe.

The End of Innocence
The Balkans 1914
the War to end all wars
so they said
and the end of innocence.
Young men and women
irrevocably changed.
September 1939,
December 7, 1941
June 6, 1944- D Day
Another end of innocence
and still they promised
never again.
Korea, Viet Nam
the Yon Kippur War
The Gulf war
the world becomes jaded, cynical
dispassionate, blase
Until
8:45 a.m. September 11th 2001
when a plane crashed into the World Trade Centre
and another a scant fifteen minutes later.
And still another in Pennsylvania
and at the Pentagon, the fortress
no one could penetrate
or so we believed.
American Jihad began in earnest
and the world awoke from its slumber
It was our end of innocence.
From here on will
children ever be innocent again?
Or will they become again
martyrs to a cause
of war and separation?
Will they regain innocence lost
and pursue peace for all ?

The Essence of Your Spirit
The essence of your spirit
Calls from deep within
Echoing the love you feel
And soaring forth, reaches all kin.
This essence of spirit has been here all along
It takes hold of our hearts
As we rejoice in your music
And celebrate in your song.
The wisdom of your life's journeys
Far exceeds your youthful years
Your boundless way of celebrating, lifts and gladdens
The hearts of all who hold you dear.
Steadfastly committed to come together in peace
You stand ready to encourage others
To help all pain cease.
The essence of your spirit
Touched by God's Hand and filled with His Love
Soars high now with eagles and Angels above.
To those of us forever connected to your sweet tone,
Your spirit of life will always live on and on.........
Grateful for the deep understanding
Of life's precious gifts
Always and forever know
How you graced our hearts so!
And so, to you, I give most humble thank's
Your legacy will grow
And deeply fill the hearts of others
Of this, I know.....

Eyes of Light Souls of Yearning
Children are our joy and pleasure,
gifts from God that we must treasure.
Only small for just awhile,
help them grow in grace and style.
Lift a hand to ease his pain
walk with him through fire and flame.
Lead him out of want and strife,
make a difference in his life.
Hold her close when she's afraid,
help her to improve her grades.
Teach her the joy of growing flowers,
she needs attention and your hours.
Like a thousand candles burning
eyes of light and souls of yearning,
the future's in our hearts and hands
show a child you understand.

Greed and Gold
The blue and green entwine where skies kneel to embrace the land,
And whisper to each other over sun-kissed golden sands.
The mountains tower above us with majesty and pride,
Their serenity, a force of strength that should never die.
True peace is not found in concrete paths or crowded city walls,
But in hidden forest streams and amidst ancient canyon halls.
Yet mankind continues ever on to conquer and destroy,
He's forgotten that the earth is his only promised source of joy.
The trees' tortured screams are drowned out by the callous whir of saws,
For reasons vaguely understood only in man's corrupt law.
The air and water chokes from thick clouds of smoke and spilling oil,
And as mountains are dethroned, black tar devours the grass and soil.
As the seasons come to pass, machines consume each heart and mind,
Someday soon, our children's children will have nothing here to find.
The earth's inherent beauty is now a memory of old,
We've lost the perfect future, all for the sake of greed and gold.

Healing Hands
Healing hands help unburden the heart
When things go so very wrong
Healing hands are there from the start
To comfort and help us to stay strong.
Healing hands reach out with love
As only they can do
With strength and warmth and strong resolve
To hold us safe and see us through.
Grasp hold now, don't let go
And in the touch you'll find
Passion and tenderness for all of human kind.
The touch divine
Seems to define
The connection to us all.
Seek within your heart
To understand the part
Of how and when and where
Your healing hands
Can begin to start
Their own sweet journey
Through time and space
For us, the human race,
And those yet to grace.....our hearts.

Home, Someday
A voice softly calls me to you, where love is in everything,
I hear the whispered words "come live"as the wind so lightly sings.
I see the horses running wild upon the spacious green,
I feel the sun, so warm inside, and starlight so serene.
The rocky tops and gracious blue, where the eagle flies so free,
The trembling flowers and tumbling falls are waiting there for me.
Yes, I want to go home there someday and be part of that land,
For there is where my heart resides, in the palm of God's hand.

In These Noblest of Times
On a bright late Summer's morn'
Plummeting out of the sky
And into our hearts
A galvanizing and unifying spirit was born
In these noblest of times.
Anguished souls and bodies torn apart
Forever seared within our minds and heart
Set our resolve to the task at hand
United and strong, together on this Earth we stand
In these noblest of times.
No matter the length nor breadth of the arduous task ahead
What is right and true
At the end of our time
Will steadfastly shine through
In these, noblest of times.
Unfathomable depths of courage and strength
Walk hand in hand with unspeakable pain and sorrow
Searching and seeking, on and on through the morrow
Praying for once more
Life's loves and joys with family and friends to follow.
On 9/11, the world as we knew it was ripped apart
Yet rather than dwelling deep within the 911 Emergency
With God's Grace and love, we will Emerge 'n See a brighter future soon to be
In these, noblest of times.

Joy
Ever so silently; in the essence of the moment
That arises with the new morn's breath,
Almost unnoticed until;
Caught within the sunrise's radiant and glorious quest.
Joy
There; in a second of a
Heartbeat's turn,
I look around me and yearn,
And then the magic of this moment
Brings warmth and peace flooding through me.
Joy
Radiating ever so effortlessly
My heart caught up within, there is no doubt.
So wonderful to invite,
So much happiness to share,
Looking at all the perfection
Our world bears.
Joy
Wake up to the magic
That each day brings.
Listen to what is
Singing in the wind.
Joy
Soulful thoughts
Straight from the heart,
Certainly many possibilities
There are 'a waiting
To see....
Joy
Tiny specks of life,
Bursting with all their might,
Emerge through the soil,
How hard was it for them in their toil?
Joy
Now swaying in earth's soft and caressing breeze,
They bend down and whisper their secret with ease.
Joy
To be alive, to be living
To embrace all with simple giving
Joy

Let Peace Rain
Peace was his vision
So peace is the plan
As the world joins hands
For the brotherhood of man
A universal project to
Encourage love and peace
Along big city sidewalks
To highest mountain peaks
It really isn't hard to do
It just takes you and I
To work on this together
Giving peace another try
So open up your heart and soul
Let joy and kindness rain
Eliminate all hatred
Sorrow and pain
Stop to look around you
Share your smile with a friend
Thoughts of peace and kindness
Is what it will send
Live each day to the fullest
Don't let time pass you by
Reach for a better tomorrow
For both you and I
Then hum his sweet melodies
In your heart and soul
Celebrate the gift of freedom
Let peace play its role

Listen Without Fear
"Got it now?" John's last words were spoken,
Heard on that fateful day
Some won't "get it" because of the fear-
The'‚re afraid of the things you say
They're afraid of the truth that you speak of,
Afraid of the lies in their hearts,
To face the reality in the mirror and know
The fate that lies in the cards
Do their eyes not see the destruction,
The danger our planet is in,
The loss of the animal and plant life each day?
The ruin we see is a sin
Are they afraid of the sounds that they'll hear÷
The cries of the hungry, the poor,
The children, the homeless, the old and the sick
Who stand in the cold at our door?
Some may listen with their ears tightly shut
Their hearts are hidden from view,
The terror is of their own making, you see,
By not hearing the message from you
Thank heaven there are those who will notice
The gently soft whispering breeze,
The sun reflecting on a crystal blue lake
And the shimmering, bright golden leaves
You‚re there in the snow-capped mountains
For the souls that are opened to hear
They look to the skies and below to the stones
On the narrow path without a fear
They hear your clear voice tell the story
Like the song birds that call in the morn
They "got it now," my dear, loving John-
The spirit of truth is reborn!

Love's Conflict
Clever and bewildered as the falling noontide shore,
The sun is slowly fading, knocking loud at night sky's door.
The west wind lightly laughs to see the flight of eastern wind,
Clouds roll with the evening's tide - another storm begins.
Silent and determined as the winter solstice snow,
The hungry and amorous moon soaks the sun to grow.
The stars all gather wearily to see the lightning's rain,
Whose sparks and fissures shake the earth with thunder's crashing name.
The thunder is the sound of bitter hearts searching for home,
But they refuse to hear the truth, so they are doomed to roam.
As somber and impending as a wolf pack's midnight feast,
The mountains hold their silence for the truth of heaven's peace.

Love's Truth
The sun shines clear and ever bright,
The moon and stars rise with the night.
Seasons change and planets turn,
Air is spent and fires burn.
Cities rise and mountains cry,
Earth's children weep as forests die.
For chemicals and strips of tar,
The land must suffer mankind's scar.
Seeing all the pain and fear, it makes me want to hide my eyes,
Why does so much fear and hate exist, why must so many die?
Sometimes it's just too much to bear and I bow my head in shame,
Why can't people see it in their hearts that we are all the same?
Don't be afraid to take my hand, for together we shall see,
The sun come shining through the clouds and give new life to every dream.
If we join our hands and hearts, then all would be so clear,
Yes, the sun would shine from within, and love's truth would vanquish fear.

Moonbeams and Stardust
Moonbeams and stardust dance softly in the sky,
The light they give is beautiful, like heaven in my eyes.
Gently on my shoulders, they beckon me to lay,
To rest myself in nature's peace, beside blue lake to pray.
The love that I have found here is almost more than I can stand,
For here is where I know my heart, and here is what I am.
Yes, with the day's surrender comes the power to understand,
That the truest love is found within the spirit of the land.

One Dream
This earth holds each and every dream,
Each dream runs through one small mountain stream.
This stream holds all dreams, all dreams are one.
Once pure and clean, now by sin is undone.
The dream has lost hope in those who once shared,
A vision of peace, for which now only few care.
The skies have grown thick with poison and smoke,
Forcing our flowers and children to choke.
The waters are seething and boiling in shame,
Disturbed by men's missiles and nation's war games.
And the mountain is crumbling, our future's foundation,
Silently screaming out to all of men's nations:
'This earth is all that our God has to give,
If you kill the dream, the earth cannot live.
Put aside your fears, forget all the hate,
Or suffer your children a terrible fate.
My stream is polluted and is drying up fast,
You must embrace tomorrow and surrender the past!'

Sacred Breath
The breath not spoken, but heard
The breath expelled from souls all around the world.
Sacred breath twirling 'round in space
Sacred breath of the human race.
We breathe it in
And expel it out.
Forever entwined within water and air
Swirling 'round and 'round
Landing here and there.
All of us connected,
All of us affected
By the unfolding events
Within one unforgettable day
Time stood still
And encompassed all with a deadly chill.
Voices silenced forever so,
But within my heart I know
That the sacred breath
Swirling 'round in space
Sacred breath of the human race
Forever entwined with wind and water
land and sea
Becoming one with you and me.

Serendipity Flows
Like a deep thirst quenched from a sweet, cold mountain stream
Serendipity flows through my veins, bringing alive my dreams.
Curiousity leads me on a never-ending journey of the heart
The paths beckoning me on have become the very start
Of exploring friendships....rekindled from a place and time before,
And serendipity flows........
Radiant auras abound
Taking my breath away
Allowing me to see, a brand new way,
Of joyous, exciting and surprising heart and soul connections.
And serendipity flows.......
Throughout my life's journeys
Many wondrous friends have joined, heart to heart with mine,
As we have traveled through space and time
All of us a part
Connected to each other from the very start
And serendipity flows......
We celebrate a sweet tone,
A resonance so pure
I fervently believe resides
Within our hearts and souls for sure......
And serendipity flows.....

The Sin of Man
With streams of blue and emerald green,
The sea was once so calm, so serene.
But when man surrendered to violence and war,
The waters were marked afresh with his scar.
So then came a storm of heat and rain,
Now her waters rage and toss in pain.
And man has forced the ocean's waters to boil,
With missiles and poison and vessels of oil.
The dolphins and whales and all sea creatures scream,
In sadness and mourning for our future's dream.
The sea birds cry out in response to their cries,
They share the sea's sorrow as her spirit dies.
The sun slowly sets now, her sunlight is fading,
The ocean waves leap to her, pleading and praying.
And with the sun sets our dreams, tomorrow is leaving,
Many have lost hope and have settled with grieving.
Why must we suffer the earth and the sea?
Why can't we be glad in just letting it be?
The flowers and forests and all children are dying,
We are killing our planet, the future is flying.

Sunshine and Columbine
Fields of coulmbine remain under his aimless scorn,
While others stop to feel their silky leaves.
He only feels the anger of a rose's thorn,
And shuns from in his mind the chance to grieve.
Sunshine is heavy on the lying man's shoulders,
Because he lives a life of hatred, pain, and fear.
The love in his heart, for his ignorance, smoulders,
And his life's truth falls away in blackened tears.
The mountain laughs in silence with the ones who know God's love,
And beckons him to come live on its side.
He hears the call and lifts his troubled eyes to see a dove,
Whose light so pure tames his once shameless pride.
And now he rests his spirit in bright fields of columbine,
No longer does his skin break from the thorn.
His heart laughs with the mountain and he wanders halls of pine,
The dove has freed his soul from evil's storm.
Sunshine is gentle on the truthful man's shoulders,
For he lives a life free of hatred, pain, and fear,
His love is with the columbine and ancient canyon boulders,
And the mountain stream has washed away his tears

The Sun and Moon
The rising sun runs its swift through bright bleeding morning skies,
In silent ascent upon a throne of blue and windbourn sighs.
Its onset brings the death of moonlight's beams and rebirth to waking eyes,
The earth is brought new pleasure as yesterday's pain dies.
The climbing moon makes its way through a dark and blackened sky,
To find the sun and soak its light as the evening winds fly.
It brings the birth of all sleeping dreams and harbors death's bright glow,
The earth is given silent peace for the hope of tomorrow.
The sun and moon are beacons for the endless path of life,
They serve each living soul as a source of joy and strife.
No two days are ever made the same in heaven's constant change,
But the universe has comfort in God's eternal star-lit range.

To the Wild and Free
The morning mist, hangs in the air
I see cathedrals in the sky
watching nature's tapestry
unfold before my eyes
The sunrise lies on the water
it's beauty touches me
laying here next to you
There's no other place I rather be
To the wild and free, Arctic skies, crystal seas
Special places left to us, a treasure we must leave
To the wild and free, Alaska's north country
Snow-capped mountains, as far as the eyes can see
(bridge)
To the shorelines of the northwest, the wetlands & streams
the forest and the grasslands, we're a part of everything
We're all in this together,
can't turn a blind eye
What will we tell our children
when the eagles don't fly
From the valleys to the oceans
across the coastal plains
Caribou running free
the cotton grass paints the range
To the wild and Free

Today I Cried
Today I cried
As I saw the city ruins
The stench, the smell of death
I could not escape
The tears I cried
were for the children
whose fathers and mothers
will no longer be there
To sing them to sleep
To pray with them
or wipe away their tears
And I wonder,
will we as a nation dance again?
will we hear the sound of laughter
from children yet to live?
Only if we repent and pray
and seek the face
of the God who created us all
Then will we feast and dance
and sing again, now and forevermore

True Love
Midnight pleasures, pure desire
Kindled by the blazing fire
Hearts beating close and touching hands
No need for words - we understand.
Our love is simple and our feelings true,
This is my real home, right here, next to you.
I see in your eyes the most loyal devotion,
Your embrace brings forth my most deep-felt emotions.
Your love is brighter than a sunny montainside,
Your love is stronger than a roaring winter storm.
Your love is softer than the night wind's lullaby,
Your love is heaven's light; your kisses, sweet and warm.
Golden bells sound from up above
I raise my eyes and see the dove
Whose wings signify our true love
Whose veins course with our mingled blood.

Wisdom of the Butterfly
Butterflies are free I'm told,
Their brilliant colors rich and bold,
Softly, subtlely they catch our eyes
In nature's miracle we behold
What untold secrets do they know
As they flit and flutter high and low,
Alighting here, resting there
With golden gifts to bestow?
Stretch their wings so they may dry
In the warmth of the sunlit sky
Their perseverance and patience will be
The test of whether they live or die
Painted ladies, sweet and fair
Seemingly without a care,
Delight the hearts of all who see
Their acrobatics in the air
The butterfly for fools and kings
Contentment to the soul it brings
What lessons will they teach us now
As they fly on velvet wings?
Our life flutters by in the wind
With the breeze we dance, we spin
Flower fairies catch the joy÷
Let the happiness begin!
Can we let the moment pass?
All the delights that this life has÷
Children‚s laughter, songs of love
Enjoy them while this moment lasts
Treasures enrich our lives each day
Butterflies, small as they are may
Teach each one of us how to live
To seek the wise and the gentle way

The Whispers of the Earth
There runs a small blue mountain stream that goes for ever on,
As tranquil and serene as a robin redbreast‚s morning song.
It runs on through a meadow barely past the mountain‚s sight,
Where lives a million butterflies and other such delights.
The coolness apt of dawning brings about a tiny fawn,
Who‚s come to taste the buttercups upon the forest lawn.
Gnawing on the dew-drenched grass, his mind shortly turns from the green,
To muse in silent wonder at his reflection in the stream.
An old and withered pine tree stands upon the meadow‚s side,
And laughs in sweet contentment as the earth‚s deathless wind does fly.
Its spirit smiles in understanding of nature‚s miracles that bide,
For it knows that life is infinite and one could never die.
The whispers of the earth are carried swiftly with the wind,
They speak to every open heart , plant the seed of truth within.
And though most ignore the earth‚s simple melody of reason,
Her song shall never fade away for those who choose to listen.

Your Songs for Peace
All of your songs, right from the start
Touched my soul and revealed your true heart-
Your joy of living, the good times, the fun
The moments of pleasure in a job well done
The laughter of friends around a campfire
Singing songs of love for your heart's desire
The ecstasy of finding your one true love
Gazing at the moon and stars above
Longing for home and finding your way
The sun and the wind on a slow summer's day
In praise of the horse, the eagle, the wolf
You sang that we can never do enough
Heaven inspired you on a mountain high
You talked to God and heard His reply
Although your life was troubled with sorrow
You reached out to others for a brighter tomorrow
In searching for peaceful ways to get along
Everyone could surely use your songs
Love is the answer, Love is the key
For the world to live in harmony
Where is the peace that w'‚re longing to find-
Is it hidden in the songs that you left behind
For the world to hear and understand
To save the family of man?
To enjoy the sweet life that was given to us
Peace is what's needed for life to be just
You gave us the songs that gave us the hope
For peace and love and the strength to cope
Dearest John, we love you completely
For the songs you wrote and sang so sweetly
Know that we hear you and all that you say
To bring us the peace that will come someday.
