I Will Miss You, Dear Brother
By Josie

I'll miss you for the rest of my life
And all the days to come.
I will always miss you more÷
And then some.
I'm laughing always
When I hear your voice.
Missing you, my friend,
Isn't a choice.
I know that you're gone now,
It really hurts.
I will miss your brave courage
And the way you solved alerts.
I'll miss your happy smile,
Trust me, I will for a while.
I miss the way you cared
When I was scared.
Not happy without my family,
So lonely without you,
And I miss my dear brother.
I hope you will miss me, too.

Warming Up My Heart
By Vivian

John Denver is in my heart
Like an eagle he flies
Up like a sparrow
In my eyes
Looking up in the sky,
I begin to cry.
A tear drops down,
Down on the ground
In 1997,
John Denver passed away,
But in my heart
He's still here one way
.

Sunrise Eagle
by Vi and Vivian

The sun is rising
From high above
We see the eagle,
In our hearts we love
But up in heaven there is an eagle
Looking at us standing,
On the trees, a minute later
The rain starts rumbling
Our eyes start getting wet
The rain brings the tears
When the rain stops rumbling,
The eagle disappears
And I found out that that one eagle
Was named John Denver
From that day on I couldn't see that eagle,
But remembered...
That one night his name was built in stars.

Wisdom of the Butterfly

Butterflies are free I'm told,
Their brilliant colors rich and bold,
Softly, subtlely they catch our eyes
In nature's miracle we behold
What untold secrets do they know
As they flit and flutter high and low,
Alighting here, resting there
With golden gifts to bestow?
Stretch their wings so they may dry
In the warmth of the sunlit sky
Their perseverance and patience will be
The test of whether they live or die
Painted ladies, sweet and fair
Seemingly without a care,
Delight the hearts of all who see
Their acrobatics in the air
The butterfly for fools and kings
Contentment to the soul it brings
What lessons will they teach us now
As they fly on velvet wings?
Our life flutters by in the wind
With the breeze we dance, we spin
Flower fairies catch the joy÷
Let the happiness begin!
Can we let the moment pass?
All the delights that this life has÷
Children‚s laughter, songs of love
Enjoy them while this moment lasts
Treasures enrich our lives each day
Butterflies, small as they are may
Teach each one of us how to live
To seek the wise and the gentle way

Listen Without Fear

"Got it now?" John's last words were spoken,
Heard on that fateful day
Some won't "get it" because of the fear-
The'‚re afraid of the things you say
They're afraid of the truth that you speak of,
Afraid of the lies in their hearts,
To face the reality in the mirror and know
The fate that lies in the cards
Do their eyes not see the destruction,
The danger our planet is in,
The loss of the animal and plant life each day?
The ruin we see is a sin
Are they afraid of the sounds that they'll hear÷
The cries of the hungry, the poor,
The children, the homeless, the old and the sick
Who stand in the cold at our door?
Some may listen with their ears tightly shut
Their hearts are hidden from view,
The terror is of their own making, you see,
By not hearing the message from you
Thank heaven there are those who will notice
The gently soft whispering breeze,
The sun reflecting on a crystal blue lake
And the shimmering, bright golden leaves
You‚re there in the snow-capped mountains
For the souls that are opened to hear
They look to the skies and below to the stones
On the narrow path without a fear
They hear your clear voice tell the story
Like the song birds that call in the morn
They "got it now," my dear, loving John-
The spirit of truth is reborn!

Your Songs for Peace

All of your songs, right from the start
Touched my soul and revealed your true heart-
Your joy of living, the good times, the fun
The moments of pleasure in a job well done
The laughter of friends around a campfire
Singing songs of love for your heart's desire
The ecstasy of finding your one true love
Gazing at the moon and stars above
Longing for home and finding your way
The sun and the wind on a slow summer's day
In praise of the horse, the eagle, the wolf
You sang that we can never do enough
Heaven inspired you on a mountain high
You talked to God and heard His reply
Although your life was troubled with sorrow
You reached out to others for a brighter tomorrow
In searching for peaceful ways to get along
Everyone could surely use your songs
Love is the answer, Love is the key
For the world to live in harmony
Where is the peace that w'‚re longing to find-
Is it hidden in the songs that you left behind
For the world to hear and understand
To save the family of man?
To enjoy the sweet life that was given to us
Peace is what's needed for life to be just
You gave us the songs that gave us the hope
For peace and love and the strength to cope
Dearest John, we love you completely
For the songs you wrote and sang so sweetly
Know that we hear you and all that you say
To bring us the peace that will come someday.
